Welcome to the Department of Economics

coinsThe Department has a strong international reputation for research in key areas of economics including International Development, Macroeconomics and Finance, Energy Economics, Regulation, Health, Labour Economics, Law and Economics and Econometrics and many members are active as economic advisors to government and prestigious international organisations including the IMF, the European Central Bank, the Bank of England and HM Treasury.

We offer 3 undergraduate degree programmes, 4 taught Masters programmes. Undergraduate students are offered the opportunity of a professional placement during their third year and our graduate employment record is excellent. The Department also has a thriving PhD programme and all our postgraduate programmes enjoy ESRC 1+3 recognition. Our students contribute to the lively and stimulating international atmosphere in the Department and each year we accept approximately 110 undergraduates, 30 MSc students and 5 PhD students onto our programmes.
