Young-Bae KIM graduated in Economics from the University of Chongju in South Korea in 1995. He received a MSc degree in Economics in 1998 from Birkbeck College, University of London. In 2005, he completed his PhD in Economics at the same institution. He taught at Birkbeck as a Part-time teacher during his PhD. He has served as a research associate to the University of Kent and also lectured various courses at Birkbeck College and the University of Surrey as an associate lecturer before being appointed as a lecturer at the University of Surrey in 2008. Young-Bae's general research area is in macroeconomics and applied economics with particular interests on economic growth, labour economics, monetary economics, product and labour markets, education and training, economic integration and regional economics. He is also the department’s IT officer.
